Dental implant is to place an artificial root (dental fixture) which is made of titanium metal into the alveolar bone. This titanium metal is similar the root of the natural tooth. After implant placement the waiting period for formation of the new bone around the implant (ostetogenesis) is three to six months, however it varies from patient to patient. Once the ostetogenesis completes the fixture is ready for the abutment and furthermore the prosthetic crown. Once all of the components are installed, the esthetic and mastication are fully restored.
Patients are instructed to take a CAT scan for evaluation before the surgery. The quantity and quality of the bone for upper and lower jaw bone are assessed to determine the necessity for bone graft placement, guided bone tissue generation, or sinus lift during the dental fixture placement.
