＜Marine Corrosion Resistance＞
Marine bio fouling is the undesirable accumulation of marine organisms on the surface of structures immersed in the sea. When marine bio fouling accumulated on hulls, it increase the weight of ship and higher friction to sail. Solutions of resistant to marine corrosion include thermal sprayed aluminum-copper coating, aluminum-zinc coating and zinc coating. After immersion in the sea, the aluminum-copper(Al-Cu) coating exhibits poor resistant to corrosion from marine and fouling. The aluminum-zinc(Al-Zn) coatings with higher zinc exhibit higher resistant to corrosion and fouling properties. For the most known case, sluice gates and canal lock gates of the St. Denis Canal in France have been zinc coated in the early 1930s and still in good situation even no maintenance has been applied for decades. The thick zinc or zinc-aluminum thermal sprayed coating can be utilized longer if some sealing was applied, for example, vinyl paint, epoxy resin, silicon resin...etc. Good sealing process presents a anti-fouling properties.
